The New York Sour is a common cocktail variation of the classic Whiskey Sour. Due to massive popularity throughout the 20th century, many imbibers around the world are familiar with its silky and citrusy experience. Here we expand that experience with the float of red wine, adding a touch of dryness and a delicate undertone of ripe red berries.
2 oz Rieger’s KC Whiskey
3/4 oz simple syrup (1:1 sugar to water)
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz red wine (pinot noir works great)
Combine all ingredients (except red wine) in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for 4-5 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass, add ice and slowly pour the red wine as a float on top of the cocktail.
